Two days after an American merchant ship (the Aztec, sunk in the Atlantic Ocean off Ouessant, Finistère, France (48°20′N 6°00′W) by SM U-46 with the loss of 28 crew https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_shipwrecks_in_April_1917#cite_note-Aztec-1) is sunk by a German submarine, these headlines reflect the sentiment in the days leading to the United States' involvement in World War I.
